It has been about 8 years since I posted a random mom thought. Not because I haven’t had one, random could be my middle name these days…but because I got too busy. What prompted me to my blog today? A charge to my credit card. A charge that has happened annually, without much notice or care, for eight years. Today however it caught my attention. After some password recovery work and getting re-acquainted with the website, I sat and read my six ramblings, I understood the real prompting that brought me back to my forgotten blog. God said I am going to use your own words and thoughts to teach you today.
After an 8 year hiatus, these thoughts brought back such sweet memories of things that I had forgotten and even reminders of lessons that I learned that I needed hear today. It brought back memories of friendship, God’s provision, parenting trials and triumphs, the adventures of NYC and our family’s travels back and forth across these United States. My mind was flooded with memories of how God has continually provided for our family. It reminded me of my love for writing and how much God used that to help me. That short period of time in New York brought healing for me. It gave me strength for the next move and the next set of challenges ahead. My boys were LITTLE and the time to be with them 24/7 was a GIFT. They are much bigger now. Those little Kindergarteners are now preparing for High School with College and Careers on their mind. That highly energetic three year old, superhero loving toddler, is now in the middle of middle school. We are two moves across the country since then. Now in North Carolina permanently, we feel at home. We have had many adventures, some sorrows, and challenges just like before but with the same understanding that God has been with us every step of the way using each success and trial to teach us.
So what is God teaching me today through my own words. Take the time. Remember my past experiences let them teach me and guide my future. Take the time to reflect on what God has done for me in the past. Share my random thoughts, even if the only person it helps is me. Do what brings me joy. Read a good book. Write a quick blog. Jump in the pool. Play a card game. Keep plants and chickens alive. Sleep. Pray. The next eight years will likely bring even more change but it will also bring more reflection, more wisdom, more relying on God, and more lessons to learn.
